How it works

From collection at state agencies all the way to you — a simple, auditable, and transparent process.

01

We collect official data

We access reports and APIs from state environmental agencies (IMA, CETESB, INEMA, and others) directly at the source.

02

We standardize

Each agency publishes in its own format. We turn it all into a unified structure: location, status, date, and source.

03

We update the map

The data is processed and shown on the interactive map, always with the date of the latest sample visible.

04

We make it freely available

Anyone can check it, no sign-up required. Open, transparent data, with a link to the original source.

Methodology

How we ensure the data is reliable, traceable, and up to date.

Collection from official sources

The data comes directly from state environmental agencies: PDF reports, public APIs, and institutional portals. We don't use third-party data or estimates — if there's no official data, we indicate that information is missing.

Standardization per CONAMA 274/2000

The water-quality classification follows CONAMA Resolution 274/2000, which defines the parameters for a beach being Safe or Unsafe for swimming based on bacteriological indicators (E. coli and enterococci). Each agency may publish data with variations in format and frequency, and our standardization layer ensures consistency in presentation.

Regular updates

Update frequency varies by state. Some agencies publish weekly, others every two weeks or monthly. Each point on the map shows the corresponding sampling date, so you know exactly how recent the information is.

Full transparency

Every piece of data shown is traceable: issuing agency, sampling date, and link to the original source. Our platform is an aggregator — the final word always belongs to the competent environmental agency in your state.

Everything you need to know about Praia em Dia.

About Praia em Dia

Praia em Dia was born from the realization that official water-quality data exists and is public — but it's scattered across dozens of state agency websites, in different formats, with no single place to check.

Our mission is to centralize this information in a clear, accessible, and reliable way, so anyone in Brazil can know, before going in the water, whether that beach is safe for swimming.
